Emotional week as we waved goodbye to a firm favourite in the Wodehouse family. Wishing the best of luck to Elvis in his new home!
A very sad goodbye after 4 years under the saddle of @atiya.bussey He will be greatly missed, but we are excited to watch him go on to do great things with his new rider! Watch this space…
Rosso has been a part of our stable since he was a green 7-year-old. This is when he properly started his jumping career, which worked in favour with him therefore having plenty of time to develop and grow into himself being a big horse. From there he flourished and stepped up to 1m40 classes with ease by the end of his 7-year-old year.
Now established at 1m45 level, Rosso is a great horse to step up the levels on. He took both of my daughters up to jumping their first CSI** World Ranking Grand Prixs, giving them valuable experience and confidence at this level. He is very straight forward and will take a miss even at this level.
This year Rosso was selected onto the Young Rider Nations Cup team for Team GB in Wierden with my eldest daughter, India. He also won the Puissance class at The Royal Windsor Horse Show CSI5* with Joe Stockdale and placed 4th at HOYS. He has jumped a huge 2m15 in this class showing his undoubtable scope and great brain!
While we know that Rosso would do a fantastic job taking his next rider up to the next level, we would be equally excited to see where this horse could go in another professional stable, having found all of the questions we have asked him thus far quite easy with his ability!
2016 16.2hh chestnut gelding (Cohinoor VDL (Cornet Obolensky) x Voltaire)
Lucca has all the ability to make a future Grand Prix horse. He is tall & scopey, but light in his build and way of going. As a 3-year-old he won the loose jumping competition at Addington, having always shown great potential for the sport.
He has been slowly produced allowing him time to grow into himself. He jumped a few shows as a 4-year-old and made his international debut as a 5 year old.
He is very rideable and has a great brain, taking everything we have asked of him in his stride. He rides beautifully on the flat, with three super paces and he is also established in his flying changes. He is an absolute gentleman.
We believe that Lucca has all the attributes to make a Grand Prix show jumper.
The best is yet to come from this exciting young horse!
2016 16.1hh grey gelding (Elvis Ter Putte x Cassini I)
Elvis is a very exciting young horse. He is a beautiful model and a lovely modern type. He is very careful by nature and has an excellent technique on the jump. He has been slowly produced with us since purchasing as a 3-year-old and has firmly become a yard favourite!
He already begun his international career as a 5-year-old, placing 3rd in the CSIYH Grand Prix at Chard. Since then he has been slowly developed and has competed successfully to 1m30 level. He has a super attitude to work and finds everything very easy; we are optimistic that even the best is yet to come for this young talent.
We are delighted to announce that Louise has recently been awarded with a Level 2 certificate in Equestrian Coaching (showjumping). She is available for coaching to share her wealth of knowledge and experience with you all!
Nym has been a delight to have at Wodehouse Stud and for India and Atiya to produce over the past few years, and we are all very pleased to have found her a wonderful new home in Ireland. We very much look forwards to seeing her partnership grow with her new jockey… Good luck Nym!
We took five horses to Wales to compete at Chepstow International with Atiya.
Keelnacally Quilletto Robuck dominated the pony classes with a 3rd, two 2nds and a win – including 2nd in the 148 Grand Prix… It was a lovely note to finish our time together with!
Florida VDL also impressed jumping the CSI** Big Tour (1m40) classes with small mistakes keeping the pair out of the results.
6yos Dandy Ste Hermelle, owned by Ross Walker, and Calisto de Laubry Z, owned by Sue Crawford, stepped up to jump the age classes and flew around the 1m30 Grand Prix, their biggest track to date, with ease!
It was also Chesterfield Z’s first show back after a small holiday and he impressed as always with a clear in every class jumped!
